- You have brought up a subject that I have been curious about. I had one of
- the original 010 boards, which everyone said would die after 3 years.
- After 2 1/2 years I figured that it was time to upgrade, so I got a "new"
- IRD with a 018(or 032, can't remember) board. The 010 board has sat
- in a box for 2-3 years, and was still working when I powered it up last
- spring. It begins to look like these rumors of battery problems may have
- been started by GI to get us to upgrade more often. Relative to the RS boards,
- I don't know how anyone could say that there was a problem at this time since
- there hasn't been time for any of the batteries to go bad yet. I suspect that
- people are assuming that there is a problem because of the rumors about the
- 010/018 boards, and those rumors seem to be false, or at least whatever
- problems that might have occurred must have been due to other problems on the
- board rather than a design problem.
