- Hello!
-
- Has anybody seen or heard of the Toshiba Bazooka Wide Television?
- I have seen ads for it in Japanese magazines.
-
- I can't understand the kanji but neither could a (very non-technical)
- Japanese person explain exactly what this "technology" is...
-
- The add seems to say that, for example, in a side view of people lined
- up, if a normal tv sees 2 people, on this tv you would see 4.
- They illustrate this by shading two side portions of the screen meant to
- show a normal tv screen size in the middle.
-
- My question is, what is this? In other words, what media (satellite,
- video, laser disc), if any, provide a wider vista than what a normal
- television can show. Is this only for "vista" type videos and laser
- discs [sorry, I forget the proper term for when they release a video
- without cropping: ?-box]?
-
- Or is it not actually showing more, it's just the dimensions of the tv?
- [But then people would be short and fat, no?]
-
- I will summarize if I get any/enough requests for info.
- I would aprreciate a CC of any followups, but I'll also watch here
- for any info.
-
- Thanks,
- Peter
