  17. Well, the problem with the 696 is that you can hear a really annoying 
  18. popping sound in the stereo soundtrack.  On my machine, I get pops in 
  19. the left or right channel, and sometimes, the machine just goes into
  20. mono sound mode instantaneously (after a pop).

  22. It is really annoying.  Kinda defeats the purpose of having HiFi VCR.
  23. I don't know if the 595 has the problem too.

  25. However, I would suspect that it does.  I understand that the 595 and
  26. the 696 are basically the same machine but the 696 has the flying erase
  27. head in addition.
