  17. When I went to buy my centre channel speaker, I had the salesdude
  18. tell me about shielded speakers. (since he was trying to sell me one.)

  20. He said that if you put an ordinary speaker near the TV (which is what
  21. the centre channel on a Pro-Logic system is designed for) you will
  22. distort the picture in the short term (he demonstrated) and damage the
  23. television over long term. (He didn't say how long that was...)

  25. So I bought the shielded one - it currently sits on top of my monitor
  26. with zero side-effects (as far as I can tell.)  (It would sit on top
  27. of my TV, but I don't have one yet.... <sigh>  Student!=money.)
