  35.     Probably PAL. I've never seen a SECAM 8mm system, but I guess
  36. they exist in France.

  43.     My wife runs such a service. She transfers video to/from 
  44. PAL to NTSC or SECAM. The current cost is $25 for 2 hours, $15 for 1 hour.
  45. This includes transfer, tape and return shipping and handling in a 
  46. 24 hour timeframe. Tax is extra for CA residents. So if the tape is
  47. in 8mm PAL she can transfer it to either 8mm NTSC or VHS NTSC for you.
  48. If you can here sound and it's a bit speeded up, the chances are it is a
  49. PAL tape.
