-
- I take it that you are comparing the DSP-E200 with the Yamaha RX-V850.
-
- The main differences between them are that the RX-V850 is a true receiver
- (with built-in tuner, source switching capabilities, amps for stereo L+R
- channels) whereas the DSP-E200 requires a separate
- receiver/amp-preamp/integrated-amp to provide the things mentioned above.
-
- The DSP-E200 takes stereo inputs via tape loops of a receiver or pre-out of
- an integrated amp. The signal is processed and fed to rear and center
- channel amps (with it provides).
-
- The specs for both units are pretty much the same. The number and types of
- DSP/Pro-Logic modes are the same, and power ratings for center and rear
- channels are same too. I don't know if one unit has better quality than the
- other, but I doubt that would be the case.
-
- Actually, the price between the units are not similar. The RX-V850 cost
- about $200 more than the DSP-E200. It wouldn't make any sense if the
- receiver costs around the same price as the DSP processor.
-
- Conclusion:
- The DSP-E200 is ideal if you have an existing stereo setup, and you wanted
- to add surround sound. But if you need to build a system from scratch, then
- the RX-V850 makes more sense.
