  25. Yup, Santa Fe has a culture all right.  It's the "Invading Californian
  26. Yuppie" culture, and *real* Santa Feans are positively nauseated by it.  The
  27. "distinctive culture" of Taos fell victim to invading Texans on skis ages ago.

  29. Come on, man: read what she said!  The poster's parents are not coming to
  30. Albuquerque to bask in the atmosphere and feel scenic and quaint; they are
  31. thinking about *living* there.  The realities of life in Albuquerque -- or
  32. Santa Fe or Taos -- include things like cost of living, crime rate (if any),
  33. opportunities to get involved in community life on a continuing basis,
  34. availability of services.  The original poster had the good sense to realize
  35. this and to ask that responses *not* stress the touristy aspects, but rather
  36. the practical ones of day-to-day living.  Why weren't you listening?
