- I have booked my trip to Italy. Thanks to everyone for their tips
- on where to stay. I land in Milan on 11 February and leave from Rome
- at Noon on 21 February. Basically I have not real plans beyond that.
-
- I originally figured on one night in Milano; train to Verona the next
- day; stay in Firenze for a few days and take day trips to Siena and Pisa while
- there; finish up in Rome and maybe take a day trip tp Naples.
-
- Well, everyone has told me the places I absolutely "must not miss," and Venice
- always seems to be on the list. I wanted to go to Naples to see ruins
- from Pompeii. It seems like I would be seeing too little of everything
- this way. I could use a little guidance. I don't mind travelling around,
- but I don't want to squander any time. It will be only ten days.
-
- So the question is: Is Milan-Verona-Venice-Firenze-Rome with side-trips in
- ten days too much to do?
-
- My other question was about just how expensive is everything. I am figuring
- on staying in the cheapest of accommodations, but I am totally clueless about
- simple items like buying fruit along the way, bottled water, simple meals (I
- don't plan on fancy ristorantes). Are tourist attractions like the Vatican and
- the Uffizi frightfully expensive? I haven't a clue. I definitely will not
- be able to afford more than $1000, hotels and all, for the ten days. I want to
- keep it much lower than that. I don't plan to "shop," just walk around and relax after
- 18 months straight of not getting out of New York. How prevalent are places
- that take Visa and/or Mastercard?
-
- My third question is about health food. I am on a special diet, which I can
- drop out of somewhat, but are there so-called "health food" stores, and if so,
- what are they called. Places where I can get whole-grain breads, etc., to take
- along the trains, etc.
-
- Thanks everyone!
