- A friend and I are planning a 6 week trip to India this summer - from
- mid July through August. I have a whole bunch of questions...
-
- - What's the weather like?? I believe this is (early) monsoon season,
- but that the monsoons spread from the south to the north. Therefore,
- would it be best to stay farther north?
-
- - Any advice about precautions considering the recent "unrest" in India?
- (ie. "Don't Go!") From reading the limited media reports available
- in Japan,it is hard to know how widespread the fighting or rioting has
- been.
-
- - How's the food? I've heard varying reports, from "I couldnt eat anything"
- to "There was great food everywhere". All I am sure of is that it's hot.
-
- - Has anyone tried camping/biking in India? We are a mildly adventuresome
- couple, and will probably be taking a tent and maybe even bicycles.
- Would this be dangerous (robbers etc) or difficult (finding clean water
- etc)??
-
- - Is the overland route from New Delhi to Kathmandu passable by bicycle?
- related question: is the Nepal/Tibet border open? (for Canadians)
-
- Any comments on these or any other aspects of travelling in India would be
- much appreciated, by email if possible.
