- Wouldn't it be nice if box scores were more descriptive. For example (totally
- made up example, including the numbers - spaced for easy reading):
-
- STL - 1 1 0 - 2
- TB 2 0 2 - 4
-
- 1 - TB Bradley 30 (Bureau 9, Hamrlik 6) 14:20 (5v5)
- STL Hull 25 (9pp) (Janney 35) 16:44 (4v3)
- TB Kasper 7 (2sh) 17:00 (4v5)
-
- 2 - STL Hull 26 (Janney 36, Butcher 8) 6:06 (4v4)
-
- 3 - TB Kontos 19 (6pp) (Bradley 26, Jablonski 3) 5:08 (5v4 major)
- TB Bureau 7 (1en) (Bradley 27, Kasper 8) 19:52 (5v6? en)
-
- <other stats would follow>
-
- Granted, it wouldn't be necessary to list the major on the last one if
- penalties are included in the box scores (but they never are down here).
-
- It really wouldn't be necessary to work so hard to track stats since they're
- included in the box scores (of course there would still be errors and changes).
-
- I think it would be really informative. I never understood why a player's
- goal total is listed by not his assist total. It would be nice to see the
- stats for all players following the box scores, like baseball and basketball,
- (perhaps that's done up north...?) as well as other stuff like total power-play
- time.
