  12. Just heard on BBC SPorts round up that Wasim Akram (26) has been appointed 
  13. to captain Pakistan on its tours to South Africa and West Indies. Waqar
  14. Younis (21) will be the vice-captain.

  16. The appointment of Akram as skipper is a move that was anticipated/hoped for
  17. in some quarters on rsc, so doesn't surprise me, but that of Waqar as vice-
  18. captain does. I'm not very familiar with Pakistan cricket, but he seems a 
  19. little young, and if Akram is injured will suddenly have a big responsibility
  20. on his shoulders, in addition to being the main weapon. Was there no one else
  21. (Malik,Rameez,Shoaib?), or is he either beyond his years (Yes, I know
  22. he has 102 Test wickets) ?

  24. BTW, BBC quoted a Pakistan Board spokesman who said that this appointment was
  25. consistent with their policy of having a captain who would be around for a
  26. longish while - that policy didn't seem to affect Imran, somehow.
