  13. Last couple of days have been both good and bad for England.
  14. Good for the reason that Graham Gooch and Robin Smith scored centuries
  15. against India-U25's and Graeme Hick also getting some runs, though Mike
  16. Artherton failed to score a single in the first innings against U25's.
  17.  
  18. The bad thing for England has happened is that Phil DeFreitas, probably
  19. the most effective bowler of England, has aggarevated a groin injury and
  20. is most certainly out of the first test match against India if not out of
  21. the rest of the series. Devon Malcolm is suffering from a viral infection
  22. in his throat though he came today to bowl against the U25's and took
  23. three wickets.

  25. The other worry for England is their spinners. John Embury got hit all over
  26. the ground in earlier matches, and is now out with some injury.
  27. Ian Salisbury and Phil Tufnell got their spin thrashed by a little known
  28. U25 batsman K***** who took 19 off one of Tufnell's overs, and Salisbury
  29. gave some 40 runs for his six overs.

  31. This brings in a big bowling problem for England. The only other bowlers
  32. england have are Lewis, Reeve and Hick (part-time). Reeve has suffered the
  33. same fate as the other bowlers, Hick will be concentrating on his batting
  34. as the selectors knife is hanging over his neck, this leaves Lewis who is
  35. yet to show a consistency in his bowling.

  37. So don't be surprised if you see both sides scoring huge totals. Indian
  38. spinners may play a major role in the test.
