- I think thats a little bit of sophistry there to make
- your point Basu:-) -- first of all, an opener is expected to bat
- for several hours a tailender isn't. If the opening bowler
- did bat for many hours, it is possible that he may be tired..
- and he could take a rest after a short spell..
-
- There is another factor -- batting and bowlingg require very different
- skills. batting is essentially about not making a mistake (getting
- out) for lonmg periods of time
- and requires great concentration from a bat -- having to open
- after having bowled your heart out is a recipes for 5/1... However,
- bowling is about producing that one outstanding effort (a wicket)
- occasionally.. it is entirely possible that after having batted and
- scored a 50 an opening bowler will be so charged up, that he
- will bowl better -- the adrenaline rush will carry him through
- the first few overs...
-
- Pretty much agree with the rest of whatyou said Basu -- anyway hoping that
- India ends its long test drought soon....
