- Australia are two for 18 with Boon in hospital for an X-ray on his
- elbow (I think) which was hit when he try to duck a ball that was not all that
- short when he was undecided about what to do. This brought Mark Waugh to the
- crease, the first ball thundered into his pads and was given not out
- (leg side to commentators) the second ball was the perfect dismissal with
- Ambrose getting the edge and the ball going to Simmons at fourth slip.
- S Waugh faced one delivery and the other not out batsman is of course
- Justin Langer. Interesting that considering in all the papers there is
- talk of Langer being thrown to the wolves by batting at three. In fact he has
- looked easily the most comfortable to mine more so than Boon who seemed to
- have a bit of trouble with some. As for throwing him to the wolves , one wonders
- because these are the same people who wanted Matt Hayden to open and
- that would be more difficult one thinks. Besides he has spent all his
- career as either an opener or number 3.
-
- As for Boonies injuring this may in a circular way gives Australia
- a chance to get rid of Taylor. I see it as Boon misses Perth, Martyn replaces
- Boon with Langer opening. Then of course Boon replaces Taylor.
- Of course this leaves us with a problem of who replaces Border as captain in
- a couple of years. I see Mark Waugh as care-taker captain until Martyn is ready
- to take over.

- In news yesterday, Tasmania gave Queensland the mother of a hiding
- by winning in three days by an innings, only the second time they
- have won by an innings in shield cricket. Hayden scored 46 and 46. Cox 137*
- Buckingham 51 (More runs, now why do Tassie ever drop him). Bowling
- for Tassie was pretty even in the first innings Kasprowicz took 6-59 for
- Queensland and Peter McPhee 5-48. Match scores were
- Tasmania 335 defeated Queensland 168 & 162 by an innings and 5 runs.
-
- Oh goody channel 9 have gone to the highlights of yesterday, damn
- they've left us in the air again. Started highlights of a one-day game
- yesterday and we still haven't seen the finish. Maybe they could show some
- highlights of the 84'84 or 88'89 Adelaide test which would be more appropriate.
- Oh and Eastern states viewer (except the sensible Queenslanders) can remeber
- thah Channell 9 will NOT be showing the last half hour during weekdays.
- Of course that TOP rating ground breaking quiz show Keynotes means that
- the news and current affairs can't be moved.
