- I skied the entire season at Red Mountain in Rossland last year. I doubt you
- will find a lack of snow there. A day pass is $32. Canadian and you get your
- money's worth with the areas two mountains.
-
- Red mountain has some double-diamond runs and those ugly sidehill black
- diamond ones as well. This hill only has one double chair, but lineups are
- small because most head over to Granite.
-
- The Granite double chair is a 16 minute ride and the back side has a triple
- chair. There is wide variety of terrain, although I haven't looked for
- chutes. If you have three days to ski, you won't see all of the mountain.
-
- If you get tired or Red or want to try deep powder, take an hour drive north
- to Nelson and go to Whitewater. This area gets much more snow that Rossland
- for some reason and the base elevation is the same as the alpine at Red.
- They tell me that skiing at Whitewater is the closest you get to Heli-skiing,
- which is something else available in the area. I've been to Whitewater but
- don't care to dig myself out of that head deep powder.
