- Some ski resorts are honest. Last March I went skiing in Idaho at
- Schweitzer Mountain and Silver Mountain. The day we were going to Silver,
- the ski conditions board in our hotel (owned by the same outfit that
- manages the ski resort) said Silver's snow was "corduroy deluxe". Sure
- enough, it was. The snow had been catted into a grooved surface which had
- then frozen solid overnight. The whole mountain looked like corduroy. It
- was just starting to thaw when we had to leave to catch our plane.
