- On the 22nd: 2-4 new in the previous 24 hours, 57-64 inch base.
- From last weekend (Jan 16-17): Conditions are generally excellent, but
- bump runs still have (and will always have) some rocks. The short, but narrow
- and very steep chutes on Mary Jane's backside were open briefly on Saturday.
- They get skied off quickly. It is possible to ski bump runs without hitting
- anything if you're good at suddenly modifying your line and/or you can pick
- up your feet quickly. I did no damage. Coverage in the trees is good, with
- the exception of the occasional rock or stump.
-
- For true extreme skiing, catch a ride up to Berthoud Pass. Steep chutes and
- trees 'til you can't stand up. Oh, and avalanches. And artillery to set
- them off. But they're usually done by 8 a.m., so you're free to go start
- your own avalanches. And people do. Some live, some don't, some sleep in
- the mountains for a long time. But the skiing up at Berthoud is magnificent.
-
- It's been extremely windy for 36 hours now. This will increase avalanche
- danger and may affect coverage in some areas of WP. Parsenn will be worthless.
