- Maybe this should be in a FAQ somewhere...
-
- 1) Some states sell 3.2% beer in grocery stores. (E.g., Colorado)
-
- 2) Some of these states sell higher % beer in liquor stores (Colorado again)
-
- 3) It ain't much higher. Standard US beers like Coors and Budweiser are
- roughly 3.7%. If you think it takes you twice as long to get drunk on 3.2
- as on regular Coors, you're fooling yourself.
-
- 4) There is no such thing as '6.4% beer' in the US. Certain beers (German
- Dopplebocks, Belgian ales, some US microbrewery products) may be in this
- range, but there is no '6.4% Budweiser'. (Anybody know the alcohol content
- of stuff like Schlitz Malt Liquor?)
-
- 5) Canadian beer isn't all that much stronger than regular American. Canada
- uses pct by volume, US uses pct by weight. So a 3.7%wt US beer is actually
- almost 5% by volume, comparable to standard Canadians.
-
- Disclaimer: Utah USED to sell 3.2% beer. I don't know the current status.
