- Every few years my family has a big ski reunion. In recent years we've gone
- to Stowe and stayed at the Toll House (now pretentiously called the Inn at
- the Mountain.) It's overpriced and run by obnoxious idiots, but the many
- family members who have small kids really like the fact that they can ski in
- and out of their rooms, making short forays with small fry practical.
-
- I'm trying to find other places that we can go to next time. They need to
- be in New England or nearby (some aged aunts in New Hampshire couldn't come
- if it weren't in driving distance), have decent skiing, decent food, and
- ski in and out. Possibilities I know of include:
-
- Hotel Jay at Jay Peak
- Mt. Tremblant (requires 2 or 5 day stay, not great for our
- disorganized crowd)
-
- What else can people suggest? Vermont, New Hampshire and Quebec are
- most convenient, Maine and New York are OK. Personally I'd rather
- ski in Quebec where people are nicer, lines shorter, food better, and
- you can get poutines, the Gross Snack of the Gods.
