- Uggh! I was hoping not to post anymore on this subject, BUT:
-
- 1) Let me clarify that I do not support the idea of policing the slopes. In
- fact, I think that the policing that does go on is wrong. I think that the
- ski patrol should simply try to get rid of the really dangerous OOCYs off.
- Otherwise, they should let skiers do what they drove to the mountain to do:
- SKI! On the other side, I think that mountains should limit the number of
- tickets they sell, like many mountains seem to be beginning to do. I don't
- know much about you all, but I'd much rather pay a few dollars more and have
- less people on the slopes. Not only will there be a more enjoyable time
- because of less people, but would also make the area much safer.
-
- 2) I admit, I was kinda upset at my little incident. More so since the
- doctor told me to lay off skiing for a couple weeks (in the middle of the
- ski season!) Still, to those who say watch out for other skiers: I do.
- I always look back before starting off, always go to the side of the slope
- if I'm stopped, but in clear view of people above. I also try to give myself
- plenty of space when overtaking other skiers, etc., etc.
-
- I think we all would agree that the best safety precaution is to use your
- brain. There's still bound to be accidents (my example is pretty good, I
- believe). I wish that the mountains/ski patrol/ski instructors would
- advocate thinking as much as technique (some places really do. Others don't).
-
- See you all on the slopes, in a couple weeks at least,
- Bob
-
- P.S. No, I'm not giving up skiing and selling my skis. If at first you
- fall down, get back up so you can fall again! <grin>
