- No. A helmet with a visor like the downhill racers wear will obstruct
- your vision and hearing. I'm sure it will save your head if some fool
- runs into you, but it would be much better on the whole if you saw the fool
- first and got out of the way. By wearing a helmet you're just more likely
- to get hit in such a situation.

- Yes I think motorcycle helmets are helpful, I even wore one before it became
- law here in CA. Nonetheless, I hate the law and vehemently oppose it. Now
- I *always* have to wear a helmet, even if all I'm doing is going a mile
- down the road to buy some milk or just want to go for a quick spin on a
- sunny summer day. But that discussion should be held in rec.motorcycles,
- not here.
