-
- The Divers' Environmental Survey (DES) now has a toll-free number.
-
- 1-800-645-1470
-
-
- You can contact the DES from anywhere in the continental United States by
- dialing 1-800-645-1470.
-
- When the DES answering machine asks you to leave a message, please give us
- the following information:
-
- -- Your name and telephone number/mailing address
- -- The body of water and its location
- -- What you saw (or should have seen but didn't) and when
- -- The water and weather conditions of the sighting
-
-
- We are looking for information about aquatic events, which might be anything
- from unusually obscure water to dramatic changes in fish populations to the
- presence of barrels. If it looks odd to you, we'd like to hear about it, as
- would a lot of other people.
-
- After corroboration by another diver or persons knowledgeable about that body
- of water, the information will be distributed. Recipients of that information
- will include state and private organizations concerned with that water.
-
- The information will also enter the DES database.
-
- The DES database has two major categories: freshwater and saltwater. The
- freshwater category comprises two different general habitats: Lakes/Ponds,
- Rivers/Streams. The saltwater category comprises three different general
- habitats: Intertidal, Coastal, and Offshore. Within these categories,
- Region/Watershed distinctions refine the data distribution for trend analysis.
-
- The DES database is in its infancy, and we hope that, by making this
- toll-free number available, we have made it easier to file an initial
- DES report.
-
-
- You can also reach the DES at these addresses:
-
- _USPS_ _Internet_
-
- DES jhc@world.std.com
- PO Box 294 tgloria@world.std.com
- Billerica, MA 01821 dtassinari@rcnvms.rcn.mass.edu

-
- Founded in 1991, the DES is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the
- preservation and restoration of fresh- and saltwater habitats. Our activities
- are supported by the individual participants as well as by donations and
- grants.
