- Count the Twin Cities in as a first generation have. BN still runs about
- 15-20 SD9s of all BN heritages in transfer service and local freight up here,
- and Soo still has their seven 42-year old GP7s in daily service.
-
- Minneapolis is a great place for the avid fan:
-
- 1)ex-D&H C424ms on a local switching road
- 2)Lots of first generation geeps and SDs on BN, Soo, CNW
- 3) GP30s are still around on Wisconsin Cnetral
- 4) SD45s, ditto (in WC Maroon & Gold...nice looking!)
- 5) SD60ms from BN, Soo, UP
- 6)GM demo BL20-2s on BN
- 7) CP geeps and lots of SDs on Soo
- 8) CNW C40-8s
- 9) Minnesota Valley has an SD35, SD24, and an SD7 along with their Geeps
- 10)lotsa pool power (NS, CSX, CR, UP, DM&IR, SP, ATSF, KCS, GTW, CN, etc.
- etc.)
-
- Plus, lots of scenic locations close by:
-
- Mississippi River, ex-GN Duluth Line, WC east of town (2880-foot bridge
- across St Croix River...160 feet high), C&NW in western Wisconsin, Iron ore
- roads only two hours away, GB&W (while it lasts), and the DM&E.
-
- A great place to model and shoot.
