  12. All this talk about no-code techs leads me to confess that when I got
  13. my first license in 1951, (Novice WN5DXP), I not only memorized the
  14. answers to the written questions, I actually memorized the individual
  15. letters of the Morse code without knowing or understanding any of the 
  16. history and theory behind it and I could only copy letters, not words.
  17. Fortunately, over the next 42 years, I learned a lot from just being 
  18. a Ham.  That's the whole purpose for the existence of an entry-level 
  19. license.  I'll bet that the majority of the high-and-mighty coded-hams 
  20. could not copy words when they took that first 5 wpm test.
