- To avoid using several screens of text on thankyous, I am forced to
- limit it down to "major" ones like . . . . Thanks goes to:
-
- Christian Decurnex for all (but a few changes) of the EOS A2E info!
-
- The new format is done using NAWK, and was done only with the help of
- Alvin Chia-Hua Shih at the University of Toronto, Canada. Thanks ACS!
-
- Please email all corrections (include model of camera, and the field name) to:
- glporter@nike.calpoly.edu

- Special notes:
- ------- -----
- - EOS10s has a metering range of -1 to 20 EV using a 50mm f1.4 ISO 100
- - EOS10s has an optional active warning mode - won't shoot till it's still.
- - EOS10s can have 2 sec delay using IR remote.
- - EOS10s Has a PIC landscape program (depth of field), and a reprogramable
- Depth of field program, that can use only one focus area - and
- then figure out the lowest f# and position to keep in focus
- *just* the area between the two objects you set. Not a mindless
- max DOF program, like many/most of the others.
- - EOS 1 can use AA's when used with optional Power winder, and do 5.5 fps.
- - EOS 100 has metering range from -1 to 20 EV using 50mm F1.4 ISO 100
- - EOS 100 is very silent - maybe quieter than Nikon F4 - thats QUIET!
- - EOS 100QD has a Data back - costs a bit more.
- - EOS 100 - built-in flash has no-red-eyes function.
- - EOS 100 can save 5 bar-code programs in the body.
- - EOS 100QD has date-back.
- - The EOS A2E uses your eye to figure out the subject area,
- to stop down for Depth of field preview - switchable, and
- exposes for the (1 of 5) exposure areas you are looking at.

- Special notes:
- ------- -----
- - All Nikons AF's (except 5005) have rear curtain sync when used
- with a flash with that capability.
- - 8008s and F4s = up to 19 hour exposures w/ Expensive databack.
- - Many of the Flashes, give the above Nikon cameras an Auto-focus
- Assist Light, when the flash is used . . . obviously.
- - Est.Rolls/BATT. # is based on the use of Alkaline-Manganese batteries.
- % - 8008s Rumor? >>Create own programs w/ tech. data back = BUCKS!!
- - 8008s allows for the changing of focusing screen - I have been told
- that the other focusing screens are useless also :-(
- - Nikon Factory can reprogram 8008 and 8008s to leave tongue out 2".

- Special notes:
- ------- -----
- % - xi, 8000i, and 7000i =92%vert by 94% horiz viewing area, But can 7xi goto
- 150% at the touch of a button.
- - PLEASE NOTE - the 3xi and some others have VERY limited Viewfinder info.
- NO aperture, Shutter speed, etc - AMAZING ENOUGH!!!!
- - 7xi, 7000i, 8000i can focus on vertical and horizontal lines- no other
- Minoltas cameras can!
- - There seems to be a question as to how helpful the "fuzzy" logic in the
- xi's is supposed to be. It is supposed to "figure-out" what type of photo
- you are taking, and make the exposure adjustments accordingly. ???
- AND it doesnt tell you what program it is doing either.
- - Minolta has NEW 35-80 PZ motor for xi cameras, that uses a motor in the
- camera body to zoom with.
- - for # of metering zones, "13hex+bg" means it has 13 hexagons
- in the middle, plus the background, for a total of 14 metering zones.
- - Minolta has only 14 cards, that wont work on all of their card cameras.
- - 7xi metering range is 0-20 EV in Matrix mode, and 3-20 EV in Spot
- metering mode - 50mm f1.4 ISO 100

- ****************************************************************************
- * The following is given to explain the camera features on the *
- * List. I hope it helps - *
- ****************************************************************************
-
- CW of O, prices as of date on sheet - Camera World of Oregon (800)222-1557
- They were used, because they don't lie about prices/stock/shipping/etc
- or play any price games - which guarantees Comparability of prices.
- CW of O prices may vary - some. Adorama prices are comparable
- generally a few to $15 more, and may be used if not available >> (ADO).
-
- Built-in Flash |39.9ft >> indicates that the flash has a
- QUIDE NUMBER of 39.9ft
- 13-17m means it has a guide number of 13
- meters at wide angle, and 17 meters at tele.
-
- Predictive AF |Yes >> indicates that camera calculates where object WILL
- be when it can focus next. Moves to that distance,
- and takes the photo when the object gets there.
-
- Portrait Program |Built-in >> A program that shoots for low depth of field
-
- Landscape Prgm. |2 Builtin>> has 2 built-in (stock) landscape programs -
- either shoots at highest poss. f stop, of actually
- calculates the necc. f stop to get everything in
- focus between two marks as in EOS 10s.
- this INCLUDES ALL Depth of Field programs!
-
- Close-up Program |Built-in max Depth of field as in landscape, plus special
- flash intensity control.
- Sports Program |Built-in continuous/predictive focus w/ fasted poss. shutter
- speed. Also has fast # of frames/sec - continuous.

- and after the camera comes up with the exposure
- settings the user can alter the shutter/aperature
- combination (while maintaining the same exposure)
- by "working" a single button or dial. For example,
- the EOS 10s comes up with an exposure of, lets say,
- f8 @ 1/250 - the user can change the seting to
- f11 @ 1/125, f16 @ 1/60, f22 @ 1/30, f5.6 @ 1/500,
- f4 @ 1/1000, . . . etc (Maintains constant exposure
- the hole time) JUST by rotating the dial
- at the right pointing-finger to the desired
- value. I realize that this is not myuch different
- than shutter or aperature proirity, but half of the
- time, I don't like the computers choice of fstop or
- shutter speed. gosh! I type too much!
- FocusAssistLight |Yes% Camera actually PROJECTS a pattern of Light,

- 8.5 percent of frame.). '/' means nothing.
-
- Focusing light EV|-1 to 20 The Camera will be able to meter acurately
- within this amount of light available.
-
- Metering light EV|0 to 20 The Camera will be able to focus accurately

- at partial intensities? Whether set by user or
- by the camera. 'w/' means that it does when
- used in conjunction with this flash unit.
-
- Exposure Comp |+-5 in .5 >>> Allows user to define how much under/over-
- exposed the shots will be. This entry to left
- means that the camera can shoot 5 stops over,
- and up to 5 stops under-exposed from meter reading,
- in .5 stop increments.
-
- DX-override |6 to 6400 >>> can the user over-ride the DX film speed that
- is written on the can, and the range if it can.
-
- Sync Speed |upto1/125 >>> indicates the shutter speeds that a/the flash
- will work properly with. 'upto 1/125' means the
- flash sill work properly, when used from the
- cameras longest exposure time, upto 1/125 sec.
-
- Meter Segments |8 Indicates the Number of INDEPENDENT meter
- segments that the camera uses to figure out the
- 'correct' exposure. "13hex+bg" in 7xi area
- means that it has 13 hexagons in the middle,

- film back be used in its place? data backs,
- bulk film backs, light boxes, etc . .
-
- Rewind w/tongue |Yes CAN the camera be told to leave the very end of
- the film out of the can, when it rewinds the film?
- gives user the ability to change films in the
- middle of a roll, shoot a second roll, and continue
- on with the first roll (after advancing past pre-
- exposed film)?
- Curtain Sync |frt/rear% >>> does camera trigger flash in the beginning
- of an exposure? Can it trigger flash at the very
- end of an exposure? AUTOMATIC only.
