- useful, but...

- I use a plain black cotton/poly bedsheet as a backdrop for portraits,
- with my models 6 feet or so from the backdrop and my lights another 6
- feet farther away. The backdrop remains black in my prints
- even where the lights spill on to it. If you can't separate your
- subject from the backdrop, however, the sheet would probably appear as
- some shade of grey.
