  18. The big reason is probably ease of manufacture.  For most people, the
  19. plastic cameras are probably "durable enough".  Indeed, the weight
  20. savings certainly makes them more bearable when travelling.  (A camera
  21. left at home doesn't take very interesting pictures! :-)
