- You have to understand that Americans tend to be very euphemistic.
- "Spay" is correct for bitches; it can also be described as an "ovo-
- hysterectomy". "Castrate" or "geld" for males, though "geld" tends to
- be used for livestock. "Neuter" actually is the sex-neutral term, but
- it isn't as frightening to insecure males as "castrate" (:-) and
- therefore tends to be more commonly used.
