  13. I have a couple of questions for you Akita owners out there.  I have pretty  
  14. much made up my mind that I want an Akita.  My only question/worry is their  
  15. interaction with children.  Our first child is due very shortly and before I  
  16. get an Akita I want to make sure that they are suitable around children.  I  
  17. will probably wait until that baby is 4-6 month old before we get the dog.   
  18. Should I wait longer?  Or should I get the dog sooner?
  19.  
  20. Also, how are Akitas for protection?  My wife likes the idea of having a large  
  21. dog to take with her on walks (or is it the dog taking my wife for a walk? :-)  
  22. ).  Any other things I should know about Akitas before I get one?
