- Oh, I think you'll find that most people here like most animals but
- *prefer* cats (rather than *only* liking cats, to the exclusion of all
- other animals). I've had dogs (I had two german shepherd "brothers"
- when I was a kid :-), parrakeets, turtles, and fish ... but cats are
- my preferred companions. The ease of care is important (it's nice to
- have an animal with an inside bathroom), but for me there's more to it
- than that. For one thing, dogs don't purr. For another, you have to
- follow them around outside with a scoop if you want your neighbors to
- be friendly. It is mostly that second reason that keeps me from
- getting one, although I'm still occasionally turned to mush by the
- sight of a german shepherd's intelligent and sensitive face ...
