- Long ago I had a wonderful black and white longhair named Oberon. He
- insisted on waking me up whenever he was hungry, which was usually between
- four and five in the morning. First he would sit on my chest and purr. If
- that didn't wake me up, then he would gently bat my face with his paws.
- Should I then be so foolhardy as to remain asleep, the claws would come out
- and he would pat my face again. If I remained obstinate, he would insert
- one claw in one nostril and tug. I *never* slept through that!
-
- I eventually decided, as others have, that true happiness can be found in
- the wanton indulgence of animals. So I'd get up, put food out, and stagger
- back to bed ...

- I prefer micas. Feldspar. Quartz. You can keep your pyroxenes,
- magnatites, and amphiboles as far as I'm concerned."
