- If Pat is still around, you might want to "borrow" something the
- rest of the litter has slept with, and make your new kitty a nest box
- with the old bedding. It will smell like home. You also want to
- give the kitty some of your dirty clothes, so she'll get used to
- your smell.

- Other than that, ignore her. Put out food and water and a litter box
- near her hiding spot, and don't otherwise acknowledge her existence.
- You may be able to speed the process up by taking a nap in the same
- room with her (preferably on the floor), or reading, or any other
- quiet occupation that suits you. But when she comes out to
- investigate, pretend you don't see her. Let _her_ decide you're
- OK before you make grand overtures of friendship.
