- Well, Elvis has really outdone herself this time! I've been reading
- on the net about the strange hiding places that cats can find in an
- apartment or house, but I think Elvis found the best! We moved into a condo
- about six months ago and the cat seems to love the attic. The stairs are
- accessed from the garage, so she (yes, Elvis is a girl) hangs around waiting
- for us to be careless and leave her in the garage when we go up there. My
- husband had checked on the furnace the night before last and didn't
- completely close the stairs, just lifted the bottom section up so the cats
- couldn't climb up. Well, Elvis jumped to the hot water heater, and made it
- to the stairs from there. We couldn't find her when we got home for work.
- I went into the attic calling her name. A very forlorn "meow" answered my
- call. It seemed to be coming from the wall. I couldn't get to the wall
- without falling through the ceiling, so I kept calling her. She kept
- answering, but we couldn't pinpoint it. My husband went downstairs and
- knocked a hole in the garage wall to see if he could hear her. Still
- couldn't find her. A friend came over and he and Jack got ready to tear
- down the garage wall. I went outside to see if I could get closer to the
- section she was in. My neighbor approached me and asked if I had lost a
- cat. She had been hearing one for several hours but couldn't find it. I
- could hear Elvis very plainly now. I asked the neighbor to open her attic.
- When she did, a black ball of fur came flying out into my arms. I didn't
- know whether to hug her or shake her! I ran back home just before a
- baseball bat destroyed the wall. Now if we could just figure out HOW she
- got over there...
