- The best form of negative reinforcement we've found is hissing.
- It works very well with our cats. We used squirt bottles when
- they were younger. I would NEVER hit a cat! I try very hard
- not to hit our dogs, too, but I feel more strongly about not
- hitting cats. When our youngest bites (when he is playing) I
- tap his nose, but I don't hit.
