- Hello, bun-friends!
-
- Well, we've finally gotten to the point where we think we're in a position to
- get a second bunny.
-
- (Mostly this involved taking up the carpet in the living room, which
- facilitates sweeping and cleaning. That's Frankie's primary territory,
- and he seems to be very upset about it -- any ideas about why? The wood
- underneath doesn't seem to be rough or cold, but he spent almost all his time
- for a few days on a small throw-rug we put down for him.)
-
- We know that we should probably get a neutered female. That's about where our
- knowledge ends. We want another bun for our own enjoyment, but mostly we want
- Frankie to have some company; he seems listless and bored lately, and we hope
- a friend may help him get more active again. Does that seem to happen?
- Frankie's quite large; would getting a smaller or younger bun help in making
- him feel less threatened, or would it just encourage him to beat up on the new
- one? He's generally *very* non-aggressive, so we're generally optimistic. Oh,
- he's neutered, too; we think that may also have something to do with his
- recent lethargy, since it happened at about the same time.
-
- Are separate cages required? Frankie is free-range, so that would be a big
- set-back for him, and we'd rather not do it. We know that we should introduce
- them on neutral territory. Will they eventually share a litterbox? With luck,
- they'll eventually at least share territory peacefully, right? How do we get
- from here to there? :->
-
- Looking forward to hearing about your experiences...

- "Seems like there ought to be a way we could look each other in the eye
- To see we're all in this together, and put all thoughts of victory aside.
- Seems like there ought to be a way we could turn this fear into trust;
- No matter what you say, there has to be a way --
- Every living thing is counting on us."
