  20. BERKELEY, Calif. - Officials at the University of California-Berkeley said 
  21. Tuesday that a student nicknamed "The Naked Guy" for walking around capus 
  22. unclothed has been expelled.

  24. University spokesman Jesus Mena said Andres Martinez was notified over the 
  25. weekend of the school's decision.  But Mena could say little more because of 
  26. the schools privacy policy.

  28. Martinez became a local celebrity last semester when he began going to class 
  29. naked.  His behavior spared a campus nude-in, talk show discussions and an 
  30. endless stream of jokes.

  32. But school officials saw very little humor in what Martinez was doing.  THey 
  33. suspended the junior when he insisted on continuing to come to class 
  34. unclothed and issued a ban on nudity on campus in November.

  36. Martinez has insisted all along that his nudity is a free-speech issue.
