  14.               It seems like the fires are still burning all over the
  15. net. I want to try and throw some water on them because I feel as if
  16. I was the start of all this insanity. I just have some psuedo-aphorisms
  17. for everyone to ponder over. One of the main reasons I became a
  18. philosophy major was to learn more about humanity and ethics. Without
  19. sounding too much like a blowhard, I want to give us all some things
  20. to think about before we go and post that message...

  22. 1. Try to let everyone have there say because everyone should
  23.    have their say no matter how good or bad. However, to attack
  24.    a person is not to attack what they are saying.

  26. 2. Try to identify with everyone. This may be difficult but try to see
  27.    things from everyone's perspective. Oldtimers may not understood
  28.    the newcomers and vice versa but they should at least try. Everyone
  29.    has different reasons for being on the network and while they are not
  30.    all respectable, they at least should be respected.

  32. 3. All this hate that I'm feeling now over the net has me really bummed
  33.    out. One reason is that my personal life can at times be trying and the
  34.    net was always a place for me to get along with people. I don't want this
  35.    to come off wrong but as one of the (probably) few black netters I am
  36.    often times at shows reluctant to run up to others and start rapping
  37.    because most times I just get this strange "why are you here look".
  38.    Now of course, this is not to imply anything about anyone. All I am
  39.    saying is we need to chill out and realize we are all one here for a
  40.    certain purpose. We should not be divided into elite, newcomer, druggy,
  41.    whatever. WE ARE ALL GLIDES and that is the imporatnat thing. Why should
  42.    it be about how many tapes you have or shows you've seen or times you
  43.    have met the guys? We are equal for the mere fact that we ALL LOVE THE
  44.    MUSIC!

  46. 4. Shows are directly affected by the people that attend them. Now someone
  47.    wrote to me and told me that they were in fact thinking of selling tix
  48.    at the show (Roseland) until they saw both my post and the reaction to it.
  49.    Someone also wrote to me that I should expose the netters who were
  50.    scalping at I show I went to. I am not going to *expose* anyone because
  51.    people are free to do what they want. I do feel good though that someone
  52.    understood what I was trying to say (albeit in a very poor way) and have
  53.    changed.

  55. Now this whole thing has turned out to be much longer than I expected and
  56. already I have broken my pact of only writing posts with phish content.
  57. I do feel that it is important for all this to stop though. I've been
  58. labeled as everything from a "scumscalper" to a "weenie and a tool"
  59. (thanks Janice!) The mob has to disperse at some time, so let's try to
  60. make it soon, o.k.? :^)
