- First of all, for those that didn't get it, Janice is at *most*
- someone using someone else's account. It is a popular pastime
- on UseNet to post inflammatory stuff from someone else's account.
- Everybody freaks out while the prankster laughs. Great Fun.
-
- Heck, JTAYLOR might even be some college freshman who hasn't figured
- out that pseudonyms aren't any disguise at all.

-
- The fact is, JTAYLOR is James Taylor. So Janice is either using James
- Taylor's account or Janice is a pseudo made up by James or someone
- using his account. Got it? Note that James has admitted to enjoying
- wearing spiked heels...

- Gee, guess I don't take all this net.stuff seriously enough...

-
- Well, one thing about this community is that it is pretty non-exclusive.
- Anyone with acccess can join. Last I heard Matt will send anyone
- a t-shirt who sends him $. The only thing required is a desire to
- join and some modest computer resources. I just see it as people that
- are happy to be a part of a community and want to meet others
- who feel the same way. If the phish.net was a private, secret mailing
- list that was exclusive (yes, they do exist!),
- I'd agree, it's a bunch of elitist snobs.
- But it's not. It's wide open.
-
- As for backstage passses, most places require you to stick them on yourself.
- Once you stuck them on, if you remove them they don't stick as well.
- For me it's always been a practical matter. Plus I *need* to be cool :-)

- I understand where you're coming from, and I don't like elitism either.
- I just think that UseNet is pretty darn far from elitism. Pretty much
- the opposite of elitism, in fact.
