- OK, since it seems that there are quite a few ZAPP fans on the net
- (and not only Swing Out Sisters or Sade fans who don't know that there
- was a pre-Sade era), I post my email reply to the original poster:
-
- There are three Troutman brothers, Roger, Zapp, and Larry. Roger, who also
- is an solo artist, was (is?) the producer of Zapp (it's been a while since
- the last zapp album has been released). Roger was heavily influenced by
- Clinton in the late 60's/early 70's, Clinton was his musical spiritus rector
- and provided him the opportunity of gigs and recording sessions.
-
- You really should listen to
- - Roger - The many Faces of Roger (released around 1980, hard core groove
- version of M. Gaye's "I've heard it thru the Grapewine", "Do It Roger"...)
- - Zapp II ("Do Wah Ditty" is one of the best dance floor songs I know)
- - Zapp III ("More Bounce to the Ounce" makes you feel the bass)
- - The New Zapp IV U ("Computer Love" and more heavy duty groove)
-
- In the last couple of years Roger released 2 albums and had a top10 hit
- "I wanna be your man".
-
- If you get the chance to attend a Roger/Zapp concert, go for it. I happened
- to see him last year in Munich, it was show, groove, entertainment at its
- best. The drummer was Lester Troutman, Roger's nephew.
-
-
- Enjoy
