  12. BOSTON, MA--January 27, 1993--Soprano Amelia Broome, a Massachusetts
  13. favorite, performed Sunday in the Boston University Concert Hall,
  14. with collaboration by Denette Whitter on piano.  The enthusiastic
  15. audience enjoyed her renditions of Mozart's Als Luise die Briefe
  16. ihres ungetreuen Liebhabers verbrannte and Abendempfindung, along
  17. with a number of works that she sang in French.  She was indeed
  18. impressive that night.

  20. After singing a wide variety of selections by Poulenc and Turina, she
  21. switched back to her equally impeccable German with Richard Strauss'
  22. Staendchen, Ich schwebe, Nacht, Zeitlose, Schlagende Herzen, and Nichts.

  24. The delightful evening closed with Argento's Songs About Spring
  25. (e.e. cummings), after which the audience called her back for an
  26. hilarious encore that generated roars of laughter.

  28. Amelia Broome appears regularly in Massachusetts in leading roles with
  29. the Longwood Opera.
