- Hello there! Having sold my Shadow 700 last October I've
- been oogling at new bikes and used bikes for my NB(tm).
- Funds being what they are I cannot follow in the footsteps
- of fellow NEDoD'ers and buy a new VFR750, as much as I'd
- like to. Congrats Scott and Dean!
-
- I've found a 1985 Kawasaki GPZ550 in decent shape. It
- not only fits my budget but also satisfies my need for
- a sportier bike than I had. I saw it last night and will
- test ride it next week. If the test ride goes without
- bad surprises and barring any scathing reviews from
- the net, I'll make an offer.
-
- My questions to those familiar with the GPZ550:
- 1. Do any problems plague this model in general
- or your GPZ specifically?
- 2. How did it/you fare on medium/long trips?
- I hope to make the RCR again this year,
- MA->WV->MA, on this bike. Probably ~300 mile
- days.
- 3. What kind of seat/saddle/tank bags have
- you used on the GPZ550? Does the gas tank
- mounted console prohibit tank bags?
- 4. With 14,500 miles does $1500 asking
- price sound ok? All it needs is new tires.
- Tire recommendations?
- 5. Other relevant info appreciated.
-
- Email me at castro@ileaf.com. I'll send anyone who
- requests one a summary. If you can't reach me, post
- to rec.motorcycles and I'll see it. Thanks!
