- On the left side of the carbs (viewed in the convention of a rider sitting
- on the seat facing forward) there are drain tubes and drain screws. At the
- bottom of each carb is a white plastic hose fitting, with a tube connecting
- between each fitting, and a second tube leading from the front carb fitting to
- the bottom of the bike. Just to the right of each fitting nozzle/tube
- connection there is a screw. Those are the drain screws. Back them out to
- drain the carbs.
- Which shop manual do you have? There is a diagram on page 4-1 of the
- Yamaha manual.....it shows all the parts, but only one drain screw is
- labeled. The Haynes manual has a good diagram, with labels, plus pictures.
- The diagram is on page 101. Get the Haynes manual if you can. A good bookstore
- can get it...it would be in "Books in Print", under Subject: Motorcycles,
- Yamaha. It's ISBM 0 85696 821 8. In the past, the Vision (XZ550) manual
- from JC Whitney was actually the Haynes manual, even though they don't
- tell you that. I don't know if they still supply it.
