  24. On the left side of the carbs (viewed in the convention of a rider sitting
  25. on the seat facing forward) there are drain tubes and drain screws. At the 
  26. bottom of each carb is a white plastic hose fitting, with a tube connecting 
  27. between each fitting, and a second tube leading from the front carb fitting to
  28. the bottom of the bike. Just to the right of each fitting nozzle/tube
  29. connection there is a screw. Those are the drain screws. Back them out to 
  30. drain the carbs. 
  31. Which shop manual do you have? There is a diagram on page 4-1 of the
  32. Yamaha manual.....it shows all the parts, but only one drain screw is
  33. labeled. The Haynes manual has a good diagram, with labels, plus pictures.
  34. The diagram is on page 101. Get the Haynes manual if you can. A good bookstore
  35. can get it...it would be in "Books in Print", under Subject: Motorcycles,
  36. Yamaha. It's ISBM 0 85696 821 8. In the past, the Vision (XZ550) manual
  37. from JC Whitney was actually the Haynes manual, even though they don't
  38. tell you that. I don't know if they still supply it.
