- Good post, except for the last bit! (You can try to remember to tell
- observers that BMW built bikes for ~3 years before they began building
- cars.)
-
- Swap the problems: You've gotten the nail, your friend has the busted
- turn-signal switch. You can fix your own tire, using your tire repair kit
- (ok, your bike probably didn't come with one. I think that started in '84
- or so. Get one from your dealer). Your friend will probably have to wait a
- couple of days for a new switch.
-
- Now whose bike is easier to repair?
-
- OBBMWPitch: when my highbeam switch fried itself a few years ago, my dealer
- had one in stock. YMMV. FWIW, I blame the switch failure on the Eclipse
- tankbag I used to use. It bumped the switch from lo<->hi more times than I
- can count, and tended to leave it teetering on the brink of the lo/hi
- transition. I got a BMW (Bring More Wampum, in this case) bag now. Even
- with the barbacks, all it does is blow the horn at full lock:-}
