  22. hack the legs off where you want to; it's not like they're going to
  23. unravel or anything.  Hemming is primarily a cosmetic thing, especially
  24. on leather.  My chap legs don't have hems, either glued or stitched.
  25. But if you want to hem, then definitely stitch.  Glue will give way
  26. eventually -- *any* glue.  You can glue first, then stitch, as an
  27. alternative to pinning, in which case, let the glue dry before you
  28. (machine) sew so it doesn't gum up the works.   Damnear any sewing
  29. machine will sew garment leather (which is what I presume the pants are
  30. made of) -- but do make sure you have a heavy-duty needle.  Any store
  31. that has notions and other sewing supplies ought to sell needles that
  32. fit your sewing machine (or your friends', or whosever the hell else
  33. you can find) that are stout enough for leather -- they'll say
  34. "leather/canvas" or something like that on the package.
