- CALL TO ARMS!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS A REAL CRISIS!!!!!!!
- Our club has been in contact with the district rep of AMA. The AMA
- has joined forces with the SFA to fight this proposal. On the
- other side is Motorola, IBM, Apple, and AT&T who have a big stake
- in the cellular phone business. The cellular phone people are
- lobbying the FCC to steal our R/C frequencies. How serious is
- this problem? Extremely serious! Those in the know have convinced
- me that this will be the end of our hobby. The AMA rep says he
- will get out of the hobby if this proposal gets passed! A
- counterman and long-time hobbyist at Al's Hobby in Elmhurst told
- me the same thing; He has 23 airplanes and a total investment
- upwards of $50,000, and refuses to risk his planes in this new
- environment - so he will sell all his planes and get out of the
- hobby! You must act now. Write letters to your Senators and
- the FCC and your representatives. Even better, phone 'em or
- send them telegrams. Remember, the big money is on the other
- side lobbying the FCC for the proposal. On our side is the
- power of the vote, and that's all we have. Make sure your
- voice is heard! And do it soon, there is a deadline. Get
- your friends to sign a petition too.
