- What you are talking about is called extruded foam. It is very strong and
- a lot cleaner to cut than styrofoam.
- I used it on two 6 ft modules at our model RR club. The only support was
- a 1x4 border around it and some 1x2's layed across underneath. It is
- very lightweight, and very strong. It can be cut and molded to any shape.
- Trees are easy to install on it. No drilling of holes necessary.
- it can be modified easily. Yellow wood glue works well to bond it
- together. Glue is also used to glue cork roadbed and flextrack down.
- The only drawback that I've experienced is that it is a little bit
- noisier that plywood surface. It shouldn't be bad, though, if it is
- bonded on top of plywood.
