- Admittedly this is my first attempt to post to any newsgroup, let alone this
- one -- the post may go awry but here goes.
-
- I currently use Generic CADD 5.0 for 2-dimentional drafting of various items.
- I am also awaiting arival of my copy of Generic 3D 2.0, a 3-dimentional
- drafting package. Both are MS-DOS based packages, originally developed and
- marketed by Generic Software of Bothell, WA. About 2 years ago Autodesk (the
- AUTOCAD people) bought Generic, but pretty well has left them alone, I guess
- mostly to allow them to establish a hold in the low-end PC/Drafting market
- using an already-sucessful product. That's the history, now on to the query:
-
- I was hoping that there might be other subscribers to this newsgroup who use
- Generic CADD or 3D, who might have developed track plans and/or benchwork
- plans, HO or otherwise, who might be willing to share them for somebody get-
- ting started (restarted?) in the design of a new pike. I'm looking for the
- more complex aspects, like helixes and so on, since I'm rather limited in
- available space but prefer the John Allen style grandeur to operations.
- Frankly, the only reason I care if the trains move is to justify the plat-
- form and the efforts I'll apply to it to those who can't understand why I'd
- want to spend weeks on one silly little building or scenery feature. I hope
- with things like helixes and other hidden benchwork features I can cram a lot
- of track and scenery into a pretty small area.
-
- Anyhow, if anyone out there has drawings done with Generic, 2D or 3D, and
- don't mind offering them to me, please contact by Email (off the newsgroup,
- no sense in bothering everyone else on this) to <JLW@PSULIAS.PSU.EDU> and
- we'll see about setting something up for a transfer. Thanks in advance.
