- =Stephen_Y._Chan@transarc.com WRITES:
- =
- = A "philosophical" disagreement has arisen in email, and I
- =thought that I'd throw it out on the net for discussion.
- =
- = It has to do with openings, suki, or whatever you wish to call
- =them.
- =
- = We have 2 different viewpoints on the matter:
- =
- = 1) No matter how good the martial artist is, there are _always_
- =openings which can be exploited by their opponent(s).
- =
- = 2) The _best_ martial artists do not give their opponents _any_
- =openings to exploit. Either by timing, or positioning, the openings
- =only occur when and where their opponent(s) cannot take advantage of them.

- My $0.02 .... unless your opponent is dead/unable to move... just by living
- and breathing you will have to present some type of openings to an
- opponent.
-
- Your openings may be a trap, or you may be able to defend them easily, but
- there are still openings.
-
- Everyone has openings due to the fact of our body structure. It just takes
- the right weapon/attack to strike.
-
- The one place that a very good artist should have no openings, or where
- every opening should be a trap is in the mental arena of mushin & zanshin.
-
- OK, thats all my money will buy.
