  12. I went to the Cow Palace Sport and Boat Show yesterday and saw some German  
  13. Short-haired Pointers from Nelson's Kennels.  My wife and I are looking  
  14. for a dog (not now but soon) that is smart, good natured, good with kids,  
  15. clean, doesn't shed, good in the house, and (for me) will also be a good  
  16. upland hunting dog.  Of course my wife could care less about this last  
  17. item, and she is pushing for a yellow lab.  Good retreiver, but that's not  
  18. the type of hunting I do.  I went pheasant hunting with a friend and his  
  19. black lab once, and it worked out O.K., but the dog is hardly an ideal  
  20. upland dog.

  22. Thoughts on (or better yet experience with) the German Pointers?  How do  
  23. they do on the above criteria?  Yellow labs?  Other breeds?  Advice  
  24. appreciated.
