  15.     This is a long story, but it is kinda silly, and ends in a challenge to
  16.     you humorists out there.

  19.                                WHY ASK WHY NOT?

  21.     Recently my sister-in-law to  be  was  visiting.   On  Sunday  morning,
  22.     Cathy,  volunteered  to  cook  breakfast.   She  was  my (*ahem*) older
  23.     sister-in-law-to-be, and wanted to impress my future fiancee  with  her
  24.     omlette baking skills.  My fiancee, however, also wanted to demonstrate
  25.     her kitchen abilities to her older sister.  Pots, pans,  utensils,  and
  26.     implements of destruction were headed in all directions.

  28.     I saw the writing on the wall, and headed out.  (Figuring that I  could
  29.     find better things to do than get told to stay out of the way.)

  31.     I started working on another project,  but  upon  passing  through  the
  32.     kitchen (mistake), I noticed that Cathy had placed a spoon with raw egg
  33.     on it on the stove.  Now, anybody that knows  anything  about  physics,
  34.     organic chemistry,  or  cooking+  knows  that  the  strongest  commonly
  35.     occurring solid is not diamond, but actually dried-on-egg-yolk.

  37.     Knowing that since they cooked, I was doomed to have to clean up, I got
  38.     out  a  saucer,  and demonstrated the age-old bachelor trick of putting
  39.     the spoon on the saucer in order to prevent having to  take  the  stove
  40.     top  apart,  clean  it,  and  put  it  back  together again.  Cathy was
  41.     surprised, and said, "Why get another dish dirty, when you  could  just
  42.     clean the stove?"  My fiancee agreed with her.++
  43.  
  44.     Okay, So, my challenge to you, is  to come up with things which fit  in
  45.     the following two blanks:

  47.              Why ___________ when you could just _______________ ?

  49.     Or, alternatively:

  51.            Why not ___________ when you could just _______________ ?

  53.     You shouldn't have to resort to acts of copulation or fornacation,  the
  54.     field is wide open.  For examples:

  56.            Why use a napkin, when you could just wash your clothes?
  57.             Why floss, when you could just have your teeth drilled?
  58.          Why wear a seat-belt, when you could just have brain surgery?
  59.  
  60.     You get the idea.  Have fun.
